SONGS TO US/DVT FAMILY SINGERS, Volume 1 (rec. to CDs on 11-20-15) --by D. (This page was formerly just for Volume 1; but I have revised the CD format; now, most of the songs below are on both Volume 1 Revised and Volume 2 Revised.)
NOTE: Songs to Us-DVT Family Singers, Volume 1, as well as Volume 2, have been revised as of November 15, 2016. Songs on the list below are on both volumes, but some are in a different order now. The lyrics of some of the "covers" of certain numbers are also not in the Song Lyrics section, because when this was first published, Ezra, Seth and I hadn't performed them yet. Also, songs #s 21-25 are not on these Revised Volumes; but they will be back again on Volume 3 or a later volume.
Anyone who wishes to receive the actual CD (s), notify me at dannytillman@gmail.com
These lyrics/credits pages were finished on 11-21-15 at Rising Sun, MD, by Dady (and most recently, notes were added, and re-formatting done, on Nov. 16 and 17, 2016).
Note: In the text below, "Dady" = Dady, Danny, Uncle Danny, etc.; "Momy" = Momy, Vicki, Aunt Vicki, etc.
I apologize for any mistakes in the following text:

Song Credits
Words for all the songs EXCEPT FOR 23. & 25. are from verses selected from The Holy Bible by Momy, Micah, Nathan, Joanna & Dady; then Dady edited & arranged these words into song lyrics.
Music for all the songs EXCEPT FOR 23. & 25. was composed by Dady, but Dady wants to give the real credit for this music to The Holy Spirit, because Dady believes The Holy Spirit gave him the music.
Arrangements of the songs: Dady would like to give credit to Momy, Micah, Nathan, Joanna, Ezra & Seth, for helping him make each song a special event.

Song Lyrics
1. I Don't Know What I Would Do (1)--Dady--Jan. 1988…(1:40)
(the words in parentheses were accidentally partially erased—tho’ if you turn the volume up high, you can hear them faintly); other letters in parentheses are ones that I don’t pronounce well, or that I don’t pronounce at all.
I don’t know what I would do without your love;
Keep(s) me going day & night;
But still without God’s love we’d never make it;
He makes everything turn out all right.
We worship you, Father, & we’re loving our neighbors as ourselves;
We see the harvest filled with laborers;
Promoted by fai(th), we live as strangers in a strange land,
Looking forward to the City, who’s architect & builder is God.
It has a fixed & a firm foundation; and we believe Jesus is the Messiah, And we are born again.
We love you, Father God; and we love you, Jesus.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. I Don't Know What I Would Do (2)--Seth & Dady--1-26-10…(3:28)
Seth: lead & rhythm electric guitar; Dady: vocals, rhythm guitar & harmonica
[Intro: guitars & harmonica instrumental]
I don’t know what I would do without your love;
Keeps me going day & night;
But still without God’s love we’d never make it;
He makes everything turn out all right.
We worship you, Father, & we’re loving our neighbors as ourselves;
We see the harvest filled with laborers;
Promoted by fai(th), we live as strangers in a strange land,
Looking forward to the City, who’s architect & builder is God.
It has a fixed & a firm foundation; and we believe Jesus is the Messiah, And we are born again.
[Interlude: harmonica & guitars]
We worship you, Father, & we’re loving our neighbors as ourselves;
We see the harvest filled with laborers;
Promoted by fai(th), we live as strangers in a strange land,
Looking forward to the City, who’s architect & builder is God.
It has a fixed & a firm foundation; and we believe Jesus is the Messiah, And we are born again.
We love you, Father God; and we love you, Jesus.

3. There’s Just Something (1)--DVT Family Singers--1989…(4:30)
(Micah, Nathan, Joanna play kazoos on the interludes)
(At the beginning, Joanna says something like: “What song are we going to play, Dady?” Then Nathan says something like: “See, Dady, I just go Oof! before we turn the tape recorder on.”)
There’s just something about you, Lord, that I’d like to tell you;
There’s just something about you, Jesus, that I’d like to say, hey, hey, hey:
“You are my strength & my song”;
“You have become my salvation, my salvation, my salvation!”
[Interlude: guitar & kazoos]
“You are my strength & my song”;
“You have become my salvation, my salvation, my salvation!”
There’s just something about you, Lord, that I’d like to tell you;
There’s just something about you, Jesus, that I’d like to say:
“You are my strength & my song”;
“You have become my salvation, my salvation, my salvation!”
[Interlude: guitar & kazoos]
There’s just something about you, Lord, that I’d like to tell you;
There’s just something about you, Jesus, that I’d like to say:
“You are my strength & my song”;
“You have become my salvation, my salvation, my salvation!”
[Interlude: guitar & kazoos]
“You are my strength & my song”;
“You have become my salvation, my salvation, my salvation!”
“My salvation.”

4. There’s Just Something (2)--Ezra, Seth & Dady--9-21-12…(3:34)
Words to verse 2 & chorus 2, were added by Dady on Aug. 27 & Sep. 2, 2012 (the original version, played & sung by Dady, was on Songs to Us tape 1, which was lost). Ezra-- keyboard ("Drawbar Organ"). Seth-- guitar; vocals on verse 2 & chorus 2. Dady-- guitar; harmonica; vocals. Arranged by Seth & Dady. Recorded on Sep. 21, 2012. I forgot to take photos of the recording session. On that evening, Joanna bro't Nathan's cats, Diana & Venus, to live at our house. For Jesus.
(Note: The parts Seth sings in verse 2 are in parentheses; Seth also sings harmony on chorus 2.)
[Intro: harmonica, guitars & organ]

There’s just something about you, Lord, that I’d like to tell you;
There’s just something about you, Jesus, that I’d like to say, hey, hey, hey, hey:

“And you have become my salvation, my salvation, my salvation!”
[Interlude: guitars, organ, harmonica]
v. 2:
When I look at the sky, I always see you there (I always see you there);
When I look at the sun, I know you care (know that you care).
You put the trees in the forest; [harmonica riff]
chorus 2:
You put the flowers in the meadows, the stars in heaven; you fill the oceans;
[harmonica riff]
And you have become my salvation, my salvation, my salvation!”
You’re my salvation.

(Philippians 2:10 & 11)
At the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow;
Every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord;
To the honor & the glory of the Father, & the Son & of the Holy Ghost.
At the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow;
Every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord;
To the honor & the glory of the Father, & the Son & of the Holy Ghost.
[Interlude: kazoos & guitar]

Every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord;

6. Step by Step (1)--Dady--1-20-88…(1:41)
Step by step; now we're feeling close to You;
Going step by step, down the mystery trail.
Step by step, everyday we're feeling close to You;
Step by step, down that secret trail.
Oh yes, it's a secret, till you open your heart;
It's a secret only at the start.
But if you open your eyes, open your ears,
You will hear that Word comin' thru,
And that mystery trail won't be a mystery;
It won’t be a secret anymore.
Jesus is our High Priest that takes us on that trail;
Jesus is the one who will the devil assail.
Jesus is our High (Priest; all you got to) do is follow Him;
Jesus is our High Priest--every day with Him.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7. Step by Step (2)--Seth & Dady--1-26-10…(3:30)
[Note: There are some abbreviations in the credits below, which are: rec. = “recorded on”; D= “Dady”; arr.-- = “arranged by.”]
Seth--electric guitar (rhythm & lead); D--acoustic guitar, harmonica, vocals; arr.-- Seth; rec. Jan 26, '10.
This is the 2nd song originally recorded by Dady in 1988, on the Songs to Us cassette tape # 2, when we lived at Aunt Aggie's & Uncle Joe's old house from 1986 to 1988. My Aunt & Uncle had long since passed away by that time, and we rented their little house from their son Tommy.
[intro: (Seth picks out a pretty tune that he made up to go along with the song chords--a nice intro; D-- chords; when music stops, I slap my guitar box 3 times).]
verse:
Step by step, now we're feeling close to You;
Going step by step, down that mystery trail.
Step by step, everyday we're feeling close to You;
Step by step, down that secret trail.
chorus:
Oh yes, it's a secret till you open your heart;
It's a secret, only at the start.
But if you open your eyes, open your ears,
You will hear that Word coming thru,
And that mystery trail won't be a secret anymore.
[interlude: lead guitar played by Seth; D-- rhythm guitar, harmonica).]
chorus:
Oh yes, it's a secret till you open your heart;
It's a secret, only at the start.
But if you open your eyes, you open your ears,
You will hear that Word coming thru,
And that mystery trail won't be a secret anymore.
coda:
Jesus is our High Priest that takes us on that trail;
Jesus is the one who will the devil assail;
Jesus is our High Priest--all you gotta do is follow Him;
Jesus is our High Priest-- [3 slaps on guitar box] everyday with Him.

Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord, Jesus, you’re my light;
We will love you all day thru, & all thru the night.
Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord, Jesus, you’re my light;
I will love you all day thru, & all thru the night.
[Interlude: kazoos, guitar, harmonica]

We will love you, Lord, all the time--even when we’re fine;
Even when we’re fine.
[Interlude: kazoos, guitar, harmonica]
Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord, Jesus, you’re my light;
I (/We) will love you all day thru, & all thru the night.
Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord, Jesus, you’re my light;
I will love you all day thru, & all thru the night.

9. We Have Eternal Salvation (1)--Dady--1-26-88…(1:21)
verse:
We have eternal salvation in Your kingdom;
Jesus' blood saves our life.
Satan is vexed and alarmed 'cause You're increasing us;

Now we can hear, receive, love and obey You;
Your face shines with pleasure on us & You teach us your ways.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10. We Have Eternal Salvation (2)--DVT Family Singers--1989…(3:41)
(Dady plays banjo on this one; Nathan, & maybe Joanna too, are playing the drums--probably beating sticks on cardboard boxes or something; maybe Nathan can remember)
We have eternal salvation in Your kingdom;
Jesus' blood has saved our life [or “lives”?].
Satan is vexed and alarmed 'cause You're increasing us;
We see Jesus crucified.
[interlude: drums, kazoos, banjo & harmonica]
We have eternal salvation in Your kingdom;
Jesus' blood has saved our life.
Satan is vexed and alarmed 'cause You're increasing us;

Your face shines with pleasure on us & You teach us your ways;
You teach us your ways.
[interlude: drums, kazoos, banjo & harmonica]
But now He's risen, and You [or “You’ve”?] delivered us;
Now we can hear, receive, love and obey You;

You teach us your ways.
We have eternal salvation in Your kingdom;
Jesus' blood has saved our life.
Satan is vexed and alarmed 'cause You're increasing us;
We see Jesus crucified.
[interlude: drums, kazoos, banjo & harmonica]
But now He's risen, and You’ve delivered us;
Now we can hear, receive, love and obey You;
Your face shines with pleasure on us & You teach us your ways;
You teach us your ways; teach us your ways; teach us your ways.

[Nathan is talking at the beginning]
For God so loved the world, that he gave his son (only begotten son),
That whosoever believed in him, should have everlasting life.
God sent his son into the world, not to condemn the world,
But that the world thru him might be saved.
[Interlude: kazoos, guitar, harmonica]
God so loved the world, that he gave his son (only begotten son),
That whosoever believed in him, should have everlasting life.

13. You Wash Us Clean (1)--Dady--1-27-88…(1:55)
[Note: I don’t know why I made the noise that sounds something like “Eww,” at the beginning of the 5th line below; I don’t know what “Eww” means.]
[I also don’t know what I mean when I say: “So we know that the hope to which you called us, and our repenatence in you.” For one thing, “repenatence” (typed repenatence below) is not a word; I guess I mean to say “repentance.”]
You wash us clean.
You wash us clean & give us eternal life;
You wash us clean & give us eternal life.
We live in your kingdom; Christ entered into heaven to be our help;
[Eww] We live in your kingdom; Christ entered into heaven.
Thank you for your servants.
Thank you for all your servants; we have wisdom & revelation of you,
Because our hearts are flooded with light.
So we know that the hope to which you called us,
And our repenatence in you.
We’re rich with the fullness of the Holy Spirit;
We’re rich with the fullness of the Holy Spirit right now.
Ooh, we’re rich with the fullness, ooh, with the, with the Holy Spirit;
We’re rich with the fullness of the Holy Spirit right now.
Ooh, hooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, hooh, hooh, ooh, hoo-ooh, ooh, oo-ooh. [or something like that]

Ezra-- keyboard ("grand piano"). Seth-- guitar; vocals. D-- guitar; vocals. Arr.-- Seth & D. For Father God.
[Note: Listen for Seth singing the “OOHs” in the background, later in the song.]
You wash us clean.
You wash us clean & give us eternal life;

We live in your kingdom; Christ entered into heaven to be our help;

We’re rich with the fullness of the Holy Spirit;
We’re rich with the fullness of the Holy Spirit right now.
Ooh, we’re rich with the fullness, ooh, with the, with the Holy Spirit;
We’re rich with the fullness of the Holy Spirit right now. [guitars/piano riff]
Thank you for all your servants; we have wisdom & revelation of you,

We’re rich with the fullness of the Holy Spirit;
We’re rich with the fullness of the Holy Spirit right now.

15. Everytime I think of You, O Lord—DVT Family Singers—1989…(3:56)
[Nathan says something like: “Why can’t we do that one?”]
[Intro: guitar; Joanna says something during this time]
Everytime I think of you, O Lord, I feel your Spirit;
I feel your Spirit moving in my heart;
Then I start to pray.
Everytime I think of you, O Lord, I feel your Spirit;
I feel your Spirit moving in my heart;
Then I start to pray.
[Interlude: kazoos, guitar, harmonica]
Everytime I think of you, O Lord, I feel your Spirit;
I feel your Spirit moving in my heart;
Then I start to pray.
Everytime I think of you, O Lord, I feel your Spirit;

O Lord, my God, you are the best for me;
You’re everything I see throughout eternity;
O Lord, my God, you are the best for me;
You’re everything I see throughout eternity.
[Interlude: kazoos, guitar, harmonica]
O Lord, my God, you are the best for me;
You’re everything I see throughout eternity;
O Lord, my God, you are the best for me;
You’re everything I see throughout eternity.
[Joanna says something like “Are we going to do another-one song?” And Nathan says: “Yeah, we are.” …]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
16. Holy Spirit Prelude (1)—Dady—Jan. 1988…(0:55)
[This is a tune sung with a lot of “dahs” & “lahs” & stuff]
I remember, that when I was recording this in our bedroom in the little house in Micanopy, Florida, I was thinking that it reminded me of sort of a “Motown” tune (the tune of this song, that is; not the bedroom!).
“Motown” is short for “Motor Town,” which is a nickname for the city of Detroit, Michigan, where they are famous for making cars (motors). I believe there was also a recording company by the name of Motown Records.
The best I remember is, that in the 1960s (& maybe 1970s also), there were singing groups (at least some of them were from the Detroit area I guess) who recorded records at the Motown Recording Company or something like that.
These groups all had a similar style of sound & arrangement, which was called “Motown,” and also, “the Detroit Sound.”
It is a really neat sound!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
17. Holy Spirit Prelude (2)—Ezra, Seth & Dady—6-12-15…(1:15)
Ezra plays piano; Seth plays acoustic guitar; Dady plays acoustic guitar & sings.
[Intro: Seth & Dady play 2 chords that Seth figured out by listening to the intro chords of the original "Holy Spirit Prelude" (number 16)]
[This is a tune sung with a lot of "dahs."]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
18. He Is the King of Kings--DVT Family Singers,1989 …(4:09)
He is the King of kings; he is the Lord of lords
Of you & me & everything we see.
He is the King of kings; he is the Lord of lords;
He created you & me.
See the birdies high up above you; see the clouds in the sky;
See if you can see the wind blowing by you
And pushing the clouds far away from the sight of your eyes;
It sighs: “Bye bye.”
[Interlude: kazoos, guitar, harmonica]
He is the King of kings; he is the Lord of lords
Of you & me & everything we see.
He is the King of kings; he is the Lord of lords;
He created you & me.
See the birdies building their nest now--Momy & Dady too;
See the babies getting hungry; they open their mouths so wide
And their momy feeds them--and their dady too.
He is the King of kings; he is the Lord of lords
Of you & me & everything we see.
He is the King of kings; he is the Lord of lords;
He created you & me.
[Interlude: kazoos, guitar, harmonica]
See the birdies high up above you; see the clouds in the sky;
See if you can see the wind blowing by you
And pushing the clouds far away from the sight of your eyes;
It sighs: “Bye bye.”
He is the King of kings; he is the Lord of lords
Of you & me & everything we see.
He is the King of kings; he is the Lord of lords;
He created you & me.
[Joanna asks to do another song; Nathan says “Het-sie..,” and then Joanna does too. I can’t remember what “het-sie” means; maybe Nathan does.]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
19. The Holy Spirit Leads Us (1)--Dady--1-29-88…(1:32)
[This has the same 2 chords as “Holy Spirit Prelude,” and I think the tune was inspired by the tune of “Holy Spirit Prelude.”]
Ooh, the Holy Spirit leads us safely thru the desert;
The Holy Spirit leads us safely thru the wilderness.
Your ordinances are more desirable than gold;
Your ordinances are more desirable than much fine gold;
Sweeter also than honey; sweeter also than honey from the honeycomb.
We are your temple; we are your dwelling place;
We thank you that you hear us; we worship you in your sanctuary.
[Coda: “dah-dahs…, lah-lahs…” & guitar]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
20. The Holy Spirit Leads Us (2) —Ezra, Seth & Dady—6-12-15; take 10 or 12…(6:20)
[Ezra plays piano; Seth plays acoustic guitar (lead & rhythm) & sings in the background at times; Dady plays acoustic guitar & sings; arranged by Ezra, Seth & Dady.]
[Note: Later in the song, I sing the word “deserit,” which means “desert.” “Deserit” is how Nathan (& maybe Micah too) pronounced the word “desert,” when we lived in Micanopy, Florida. There was a little patch of white sand at the edge of a field next to our house there; we pretended that the little sandy place was “the deserit.”]
[Intro: piano & guitars]
Ooh, the Holy Spirit leads us safely thru the desert;
The Holy Spirit leads us safely thru the wilderness.
Ooh, your ordinances are more desirable than gold;
Your ordinances are more desirable than much fine gold;
Sweeter also than honey; sweeter also than honey from the honeycomb.
We are your temple; we are your dwelling place;
We thank you that you hear us; we worship you in your sanctuary.
[Interlude: Seth plays guitar riff; then all sing “Nah nah nahs…..”]
Ooh, the Holy Spirit leads us safely thru the deserit;
The Holy Spirit leads us safely thru the wilderness.
Ooh, your ordinances are more desirable than gold;
Your ordinances are more desirable than much fine gold;
Sweeter also, sweeter also; Sweeter also, sweeter also;
Sweeter also, sweeter also; Sweeter also, sweeter also
Than honey, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah from the honeycomb.
We are your temple; we are your dwelling place;
We thank you that you hear us; we worship you in your sanctuary.
[Coda: guitars & "Nah nah nahs….."; Dady says: “Hit it, Seth!” & Seth plays guitar riff; piano & guitars play; Dady says: "Hit it, Ezra," & Ezra plays a piano riff; more guitar & piano; more "Nah nah nahs…"; Dady sings the riff that Seth played; Seth plays a riff; guitars & piano; then all sing more "Nah nah nahs…."]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
21. Go & Tell the World--DVT Family Singers--1989…(3:36)
(Joanna says something like: “What is that, Dady?”)
[Intro: guitar]
(That’s Micah’s voice you can hear clearly at the beginning & at other times during this song.)
Go & tell the world about my Jesus;
Go & tell the world about my Jesus;
Go & tell the world about my Jesus,
’Cause Jesus done saved the world.
[Interlude: kazoos, guitar, harmonica]
Everybody ought to know about my Jesus;
Everybody ought [Nathan says “ot” right here] to know about my Jesus;
Everybody ought to know about my Jesus,
’Cause Jesus knows about everybody.
[Interlude: kazoos, guitar, harmonica]
Go & tell the world about my Jesus;
Go & tell the boy & girl about my Jesus;
Go & tell the world about my Jesus,
’Cause Jesus done saved the world.
[Coda: kazoos, guitar, harmonica]
(Nathan says a lot of fast “Het-sies” at the end.)

22. You Grant Us--Dady--1-30-88…(2:26)
(This song is “a capella,”—pronounced “ah cah-pel-ah”—which means “singing without instruments being played.”)
(Words that should be sung but are not, are enclosed in [brackets]; also, other info may be in [brackets].)
(At the end of the 5th line, Dady trys to repeat “authority” for some reason, but only sings “’thority.”)
[Intro: Dady sings “Duh-duh, duh duh…]
You grant us full freedom to declare your message fearlessly,
While you stretch out your hand to heal, to heal.
You grant us, your servants, full freedom to declare your message fearlessly,
While you stretch out your hand to heal, to heal.
And to perform signs & wonders too [“by”] the authority, ’thority
And by the power of the name of your Holy child & servant Jesus Christ.
We have our home in your house & we have your Holy Spirit;
You make us pure & lead us aright so we can live.
We are justified by good deeds, as well as by [“what” is a mistake], as by believing in you;
Your hand is ready to help us for we have chosen your precepts.
You make us pure & lead us aright so we can live;
We are justified before [“’fore” is a mistake] you
By good deeds, as well as by believing in you;
Your hand is ready to help us for we have chosen your way.

23. More (1)--DVT Family Singers--1989…(7:49)
Note:For this version of “More,” I have changed some of the original English words. In a later CD (maybe Volume 3 or 4, you will get to see the original English words for "More."
"More" is the song [actually, it was originally an instrumental--apparently there were no words written for it at that time] from the soundtrack of the 1962 movie Mondo Cane ;
(The original Italian title of the song was "Ti Guaderò Nel Cuore");
Music was composed by Riz Ortolani & Nino Oliviero [in 1962, I think]; it was written first as an instrumental only [no words];
Italian words were written later by Marcello Ciorciolini;
Norman Newell then adapted the words into English.

(At the beginning, Nathan is blowing on his kazoo, & then says: "Het-sie"--or should it be spelled "Hetsy" or "Hetsey"?)
[Intro: kazoos, guitar, harmonica; "1234"]
More than the greatest love the world has known--
This is the love God sent by his dear son;
Now with more than the simple words I try to say,
I only live to love you more each day.
More than ever before, dear Lord, I want to love you so;
My life will be in your keeping--waking, sleeping, laughing, weeping.
Longer than always is a long, long time,
But far beyond forever, you’ll be mine.
I know I’ve never lived before, & my heart is very sure
No one else could love me more.
[Interlude: guitar chords; then kazoos & harmonica join in; lastly, guitar only]
More than the greatest love the world has known--
This is the love God sent by his dear son;
More than the simple words I try to say,
I only live to love you more each day.
More than ever before, dear Lord, I want to love you so;
My life will be in your keeping--waking, sleeping, laughing, weeping.
Longer than always is a long, long time,
But far beyond forever, you’ll be mine.
I know I’ve never lived before, & my heart is very sure
No one else could love me more.
[Interlude: solo guitar chords; “play”; then kazoos & harmonica join in]
More than ever before, dear Lord, I want to love you so;
My life will be in your keeping—waking, sleeping, laughing, weeping.
Longer than always is a long, long time,
But far beyond forever, you’ll be mine.
I know I’ve never lived before, & my heart is very sure
No one else could love me more.
Longer than always is a long, long time,

[“longer than always”]
Longer than always is a long, long time,
But far beyond forever, you’ll be mine.
I know I’ve never lived before, & my heart is very sure
No one else could love me more.
[Coda: kazoos, guitar, harmonica]

24. Jesus’ Blood Has Set Us Free--Dady--1-28-88…(1:05)
(I have put some letters in parentheses that I don’t pronounce well or not at all)
Jesus’ blood has set us free, we are your children;
We abound in all good things--faith, knowledge, zeal & love;
Doing good deeds; you are everything to us--
Supreme, indwelling & controlling factor of li(fe).
Out of the mou(ths) of babes & unweaned infants
You have established streng(th)
Because of your foes, that you might silence
The enemy & the avenger.
The enemy & the avenger; the enemy is silenced.

25. Mary’s Boy Child--DVT Family Singers--1989…(3:29)
Words & music by Jester Hairston; released in 1956. I think the arrangement we sing is similar to the version done by The Imperials on a Christmas record that we have.
[Intro: “1234”; kazoos, guitar, harmonica]
A long time ago in Bethlehem, so the Holy Bible says,
Mary’s boy child, Jesus Christ, was born on Christmas Day.
Hark! Now hear the angels sing; listen to what they say--
That man will live forever more, because of Christmas Day.
Joseph & his wife Mary came to Bethlehem that night;
They found no place to bear her child [Nathan says: "..to lay their child…"]
Not a single room was in sight.
By-&-by they found a little nook in a stable all forlorn,
And in a manger cold & dark, Mary’s little boy child was born.
Hark! Now hear the angels sing; listen to what they say--
That man will live forever more, because of Christmas Day.
[Interlude: "play it now": kazoos, guitar, harmonica; "play it again"; "…chorus"]
Shepherds watched their flocks by night; they saw a bright new shining star;
They heard a choir from heaven sing; the music came from afar.
Hark! Now hear the angels sing; listen to what they say--
That man will live forever more, because of Christmas Day.
Trumpets sound & angels sing! Listen to what they say--
That man will live forever more because of Christmas Day!
Because of Christmas Day.
